I have tried several approaches from the web: I’m holding on to the p4, though, as long as I can run it. However, I didn’t edit those pages, I simply entered those two commands in a terminal window. In the meantime, I too got things working, but again for puzzling reasons Inquires via sane-devel forum http: Reading your first post, strange thing is i had already enabled the default no-scanning user privileges beforehand in Intrepid prior to the whole saga. Especially now that the trusty HP is working, all my initial reservations about Jaunty have disappeared.
I’m holding on to the p4, though, as long as I can run it. My Intrepid scanning still works, with the fix I noted above.
After I did that, I saw no difference. Other than my path to my HP C130a 4p being “sg8”, our various responses are similar.
May 11th, 4. Those let the system reset the scanner group and its permissions. May 11th, 3. I’m having the same problem you are, now that I’ve upgraded to Jaunty.

Hope these changes, modified for your “sg2”, will get you going. The time now is I hope those suggestions can help you. Dunno if this possible “driver issue” is particular to the SCSI card i use probably different to you?
Jaunty doesn’t have the same permissions set – no scanning group. It seems to take much better and more efficient advantage c11130a the hardware I have. For me the scanner now works I have tried several approaches from the web: I’m a happy camper and in line with your earlier comment much more sane! So I ended up with: May 13th, 5.

Ubuntu Forums Code of Conduct. My SCSI card is one I’ve brought forward through several intervening computers, but I don’t think it’s the one I originally got with my 4p.
